Simon received his M.Sc. in physics from the University of Würzburg. He is now a PhD-candidate in the research group “Mesoscopic Physics” of Prof. Dr. Björn Trauzettel. His main research interests are topological states of matter and quantum coherence. This includes the investigation of driven topological phase transitions by external electromagnetic fields. For this purpose he uses a generalization of Floquet theory.
